FAQS
Common Questions

🧬

Is your service discreet?

We take discretion very seriously. If you want to ensure discretion from the staff either call and ask to speak to the pharmacist or book it online. We have merged the appointments for common blood tests and sexual health into one category so our own staff don't know the nature of the booking (the only persons aware will be yourself and the pharmacist). You have the choice of paying cash and you do not need to give your real name.

🧬

How long does it take for the results?

For blood tests (e.g. Hep B, Hep C, HIV, Syphilis, Herpes) the results are usually by the following working day if your appointment is before 5pm. Urine tests (e.g. Chlamydia/Gonorrhoea take an extra working day as they require culturing overnight in the lab).

🧬

Are my results shared with my GP?

No. We do not share your results with anyone without your permission.

🧬

What do I  tell your staff when they greet me at reception?

Simply say you have an appointment. You will be seated without any further questions asked.

🧬

How do I get the results?

Your contact details will be double checked during the appointment. Results will be sent as an email that is password protected. You will receive a text message with the passcode to open the email. This is very secure and is our preferred method of delivery. However, if you  choose, you can request that results are sent to you by SMS, Whatsapp or over the phone.

🧬

Will testing involve a blood test?

Most tests involve a venous blood test (that is blood drawn from the vein on the inside of your arm). Some tests such as Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea require a urine sample.

🧬

Do I need to prepare for the tests?

If you are testing for Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea, please avoid using the bathroom for at least 30 minutes before your appointment. We also recommend drinking plenty of water beforehand, as staying well-hydrated makes it much easier to find your vein for any blood samples

🧬

How do I pay?

We accept all major credit/debit cards (except American Express). You can also pay cash if you wish.

🧬

Can I book a late appointment with you during the week?

Yes. If you pre-book you can attend as late as 7:30pm Mon-Fri. This makes us the latest opening Sexual Health Clinic in Farnborough.

🧬

What happens if I test positive?

Without your permission nothing is shared with anyone. If you test positive for something serious such as HIV, you will be advised to be referred to a GUM clinic and this will be done anonymously (you will be assigned a unique code instead of using your name) so that you can get treatment. For less serious conditions such as Chlamydia you will be offered treatment in house.

🧬

How long after potential exposure are the tests considered conclusive for accuracy?

Generally speaking, tests are considered conclusive at 3 months post exposure. If you test before 3 months, it is always advisable to repeat the test at 3 months or after to ensure your result is conclusive.

🧬

Do you charge for advice?

No. You are welcome to come in for a no obligation consultation or simply call to enquire if you have any questions.

🧬

Do you also do the morning after pill?

Yes and we can provide it for FREE as part of the NHS service but you must present in person.
