A vaccine is available to help protect people at risk of being exposed to rabies. But even if you have been vaccinated, you should still get urgent medical help if you're bitten or scratched by an animal that may have had rabies. A course for the rabies vaccination involves three injections on three separate occasions, either over 7 days (rapid course) or 21 days (normal course).
